Twilight Saga Star Nominated for Oscar

While "New Moon" did not receive an Oscar nod for Best Song ("Possibility" was one of the many contenders), one of its stars did receive a Best Supporting Actress nomination.

Anna Kendrick, who plays Bella's high school gal pal Jessica, was nominated for her role in "Up In The Air" which also received the Best Movie nomination, among others. Up for the award with Anna are Penelope Cruz ("Nine"), Vera Farmiga ("Up In The Air"), Maggie Gyllenhaal ("Crazy Heart") and Mo'Nique ("Precious").

The competition is pretty tight this year, so we wish Anna the best of luck on Oscar night which will be held on Sunday, March 7th, so be sure to tune in!

Howard Shore Set as Composer for "Eclipse"

Hot off the presses! Howard Shore has been named the composer for the third film in the Twilight Saga series, "Eclipse". He follows in the footsteps of Carter Burwell ("Twilight) and Alexandre Desplat ("New Moon").

Shore is a 3-time Oscar winner and is best noted for his work on the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, as well as numerous others. He also recently re-scored the Mel Gibson action thriller "Edge of Darkness" for Warner Bros, replacing John Corigliano, which opens in the US next week.

"New Moon" DVD Release Date Set for March 20th

On the official Twilight Facebook page it was announced today that the "New Moon" DVD/Blu-Ray disc will be available on March 20th.

Amazon's listing for the New Moon DVD contains the following details about special features:

"Audio commentary with Director Chris Weitz and Editor Peter Lamber, A riveting six-part documentary that takes you behind the scenes, Exclusive band rehearsal footage with Muse, Music videos from Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina, and Mute Math."

So get ready to pre-order fans! It'll be here before you know it! Will there even be an Eclipse trailer on there? Makes one wonder...or hope.

While we still don't have an official release date for the "New Moon" DVD/Blu-Ray Disc, we do have the official cover art!

Freshwater Picnic's "The Duel" in Showdown

Remember the videos of the Twilight Musical spoof by Freshwater Picnic I posted here last month? Well, they are in Atom.com's showdown with another video and they need your votes! This was the final video of the 4-part series and my brother is Edward Cullen.

First Eclipse Trailer to Premiere at Oscars?

The first trailer for "New Moon" premiered at the MTV Movie Awards in May - 6 months prior to the premiere of the film. We're hitting the 6 month mark for the premiere of "Eclipse", so when will the first trailer appear? Some of us thought they might show something before the premiere of "New Moon", but we all know that didn't happen. Twilight fans around the world are anxiously awaiting that first clip, and even still photos, to the highly anticipated sequel!

One possibility for the trailer premiere is this year's Oscars which airs March 7, 2010 - just a little over 3 months from the premiere of the movie. David Slade has been hedging about a time or place for the first trailer, but if the Oscars are looking for ratings, this may be a way to go. However, as a Twilight fan, this may be too long. Maybe it would be ideal for a second trailer...

Whatever the case may be, things have been very quiet around the movie, but hopefully early 2010 will bring us more to see and discuss. In the meantime, go see "New Moon" again! It's the 4th highest grossing movie of 2009 - thanks to you!
